Middle Park is a south-western suburb of Brisbane located approximately 14 radial kilometres from the CBD, bordered by the suburbs of Westlake and Riverhills to its west, with Jamboree Heights to its east. The northern portion of the suburb adjoins the McLeoud Country Golf Club, allowing residents to purchase homes with absolute golf course frontage. The suburb was first developed in the late 1970’s, although now contains a mix of housing types from the decades that followed.
In the centre of the suburb is the Metro Middle Park Shopping Mall which contains a Coles, along with a variety of other specialty retailers. The Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre is also only a short drive away containing additional big-box stores, fashion boutiques, supermarkets, food courts and children’s play areas.
According to recent census data, the most prominent household composition in Westlake are couples of 40 – 59 years of age. The majority of homes in the area are traditional detached houses, although there are a small handful of gated complexes containing some townhomes.
Health, Education and Schooling
Middle Park State school is the local government operated primary school, catering to students from prep through to year 6, with Good News Lutheran School being the private school equivalent.
There are no secondary schools within Middle Park, although Centenary State Highschool is located a few kilometres to the north in nearby Jindalee. There are also a number of churches and local community groups based in the suburb.
