Westlake QLD 4074

Why Westlake?

Westlake is a south-western riverside suburb of Brisbane located approximately 14 radial kilometres from the CBD, with a large portion of the suburb directly adjoining the Pullen reach of the Brisbane River along its western border.  In the north of the suburb is a large lake, from which the suburbs name was derived.  Thanks to the river and lake, the suburb has attracted many residents wanting to secure property with direct waterfrontage where they built grand homes, making it one of the most exclusive and sought-after Centenary suburbs.

There are multiple small parks in the suburb along with stretches of remnant bushland flanking the banks of the Brisbane River, which are now tended to by local volunteer bush-care groups.

Demographics

According to recent census data, the most prominent household composition in Westlake is couples of 40 – 59 years of age whose children are becoming less dependent.  This is likely a reflection of the suburb not having any schools, combined with house prices being considerably higher than other directly adjoining suburbs.  The majority of homes in the area are traditional detached houses, with a particularly high percentage of owner-occupiers.

Health, Education and Schooling

While there are no schools located within Westlake, there are two primary schools in nearby Middle Park and also Jamboree Heights, with Jindalee offering the closest secondary school.
