Merewether Heights NSW 2291
Why Merewether Heights?
Merewether Heights is a very small area of around 15 streets, bordered mostly by bush reserve, but close to the coast and local beaches. The area is more undulating than the flat coastal suburbs, with large prestige homes on sloping blocks, many taking advantage of coastal and bush views. The suburb is quiet, with very little traffic passing through the residential areas. Most traffic passes along arterial roads around the edge of the suburb.
A significant proportion of residents are over the age of 40, with the proportion of over 55s being higher than the average for the city. Families make up around 90% of the residents. Weekly income is significantly higher than average for the city, as are home loan repayments and rental costs. Freestanding houses make up almost 100% of the dwellings, and there are few renters, but rental demand is high.
Health, Education and Schooling
Merewether Heights has its own local primary school, and is in the catchment for the highly regarded Kotara High School which is located just to the west of the suburb. Newcastle Grammar School is also conveniently located close to the city. Professionals, Managers and Clerical Workers are the most common employment groups.
