Why Taringa?

Taringa is a suburb located in Brisbane’s Inner West. Approximately two thirds of the suburb comprise of Apartments, with standalone houses making up the remaining third. Split in half by Moggill Road, Taringa provides excellent access to Brisbane’s Central Business District and the Western Freeway. Taringa’s neighbouring suburb Indooroopilly, is home to Indooroopilly shopping centre, a buzzing precinct of shops, cafes, restaurants and family entertainment. With its own dedicated train station and excellent bus network access, the public transport Taringa provides, coupled with its extremely close proximity to the University of Queensland and the CBD, makes Taringa extremely popular with young professionals and university students alike.

Demographics

Because of Taringa’s central proximity to the University of Queensland and the Brisbane CBD, Taringa has understandably attracted a younger demographic of working professionals and students to the suburb. This is evident with more than half of the suburb aged between 20-39. Another trend is the significant sway towards working professional couples living in the suburb making up 51% followed by families taking up another 34.2% of the suburb.

Health, Education and Schooling

It is easy to see why the second largest group in the area is families with the surrounding education available being exceptional. The government school catchments for Taringa, Ironside State School and Indooroopilly State School, are two of highest ranked State Schools in Queensland. As a result of Taringa bordering both Indooroopilly and Toowong, the secondary & tertiary education in the area is also second to none with St Peters Lutheran College, Brisbane Boys College, Brigidine College & the University of Queensland all being within a 10 minute drive. Moggill Road which divides the suburb in two, also provides an easy commute to the Wesley Hospital located on Corronation Drive in Auchenflower.
