Schooling is one other reason people flock to South Brisbane to live. South Brisbane is home to Brisbane State High School which is the number one ranked public high school in Brisbane. This is a catchment only school hence the demand for the housing in this suburb is very high. South Brisbane is also home to St Josephs Primary School (Private) and Somerville House which is a prestigious private girls school. South Brisbane is also home to Mater Private Hospital and the Royal Childrens Hospital and in close proximity to the PA Hospital. Access to the University of Qld is just up the hill over Highgate Hill to the Green Bridge, and Queensland University of Technology Garden’s Point Campus in the CBD by walking over the Goodwill Bridge.
