Why Georgetown?

The quiet suburb of Georgetown, to the north west of the CBD, lies midway between the city and the University of Newcastle. It has undergone significant gentrification and is known for stylish, refurbished 1930s cottages, many featuring front verandas, sunrooms and bay windows.

There are around 700 houses and 100 units in Georgetown. There is a small shopping centre servicing the surrounding homes on the arterial road which bisects the suburb. However, surrounding streets are quiet.

Demographics

With most of the population between the ages of 20-59, the majority of households are families. Occupations are an even mix across professional and trades. The large Waratah Village Shopping Centre is within walking distance of Georgetown.

Health, Education and Schooling

The Waratah Campus of Callaghan College is to the north, providing a quality secondary school within walking distance. Other public and private schools are close by, and the Calvary Mater Hospital is less than 2kms away.
