Why Mayfield?

Mayfield has undergone significant gentrification since the closure of heavy industry in the 1990s, to become one of Newcastle’s most popular suburbs. There are a number of stylish cafes along the shopping strip, there is a large green space with skate park and swimming centre, and the city and harbour are less than 10 minutes to the east.

Mayfield is also the closest suburb to the Newcastle Airport, RAAF Base and Airport Business Park, where employment opportunities are expanding.

There are around 3000 houses in Mayfield and 900 units and townhouses.

Demographics

Mayfield is a popular location with tenants, with around 40% of residents renting. Occupations are evenly spread across mostly non-professional categories, and households are most likely to be couples or families.

Health, Education and Schooling

There are a number of both public and religious schools in Mayfield, and the University of Newcastle is close. The Calvary Mater Hospital is a few minutes’ drive to the south.
