Why Kotara?

The suburbs of Kotara and Kotara South occupy a large area between Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. A very large Westfield Shopping Centre and Homemaker Centre dominate a commercial hub, while parks and sporting fields are scattered among the residential areas. There are around 1500 houses in the suburb, with a small number of townhouses and very few units.

The Kotara Railway Station provides a second mode of public transport and is on the Newcastle-Sydney line. To the north of the suburb lies the extensive Blackbutt Nature Reserve.

Demographics

Kotara is dominated by families attracted to the quality public and independent schools, playing fields and proximity to shopping centres. The workforce is evenly spread across professional and non-professional categories.

Health, Education and Schooling

The public and independent schools within the Kotara area are highly regarded. The John Hunter Hospital is only a few minutes’ drive to the north.
