Why Forestville?
Forestville is part of Sydney’s Northern Beaches region, located 12km North of Sydney CBD. Forestville is part of the “Forest” area, which also encompasses the suburbs of Belrose, Davidson, Frenchs Forest, Killarney Heights, Terrey Hills and Duffys Forest.
Aptly named Forestville (“Town in the Forest”) until James French settled here in 1856 and began felling timber, the area was initially used as soldier settlement farms after World War Two, however due to poor soil not conducive to farming, the area was developed as housing land in the early 1960s. Nowadays many of the older cottages have been replaced with project homes.
Warringah Road is the main thoroughfare, connecting Forestville with The Northern Beaches and to the North Shore and CBD, with buses operating in both directions. Forestville Village Shops, known to locals as The Centre, is the suburbs’ main shopping centre, positioned between Darley and Starkey Streets. There are also a handful of shops along Arthur Street, and a number of sporting facilities including fields, tennis and netball courts.

Demographics
In recent years, there has been an influx of upsizing families to Forestville, attracted by the location relative to the North Shore, CBD and Beaches. Seniors (over 55) account for around a quarter of the area’s population, with a number of Nursing/Care facilities in the suburb.
Health, Education and Schooling
There are three primary schools in Forestville: Forestville Public School, Forestville Montessori School, and Our Lady of Good Counsel. The closest High School is just up the road at Killarney Heights High School, with The Forest High School and Davidson High School also nearby in Frenchs Forest. For parents with children on the autistic spectrum, there is the specialist Aspect Vern Barnett School in Forestville too.
The Northern Beaches Hospital sits in the neighbouring suburb of Frenchs Forest, less than a 5 minute drive away. It is a Level 5 facility providing a range of services including emergency.
