In the 2016 Australian census, Mosman and Manly were named the two Australian suburbs with the highest population of US expats. And it’s not surprising; the scenic beaches, village lifestyle, high socio-economic status and access to the CBD are major drawcards to these areas.

With the election and winter looming, has today reported that US searches for Australian property are up 32% on this time last year. Their top search locations? Manly, Bondi and Mosman again ranked two three and four respectively.

Australian property searches have also increased in Hong Kong (up 10%) and Singapore (up 5%). This comes as a welcome relief, with Chinese interest in Australian property dropping consistently in recent years.

It will be interesting to see once borders re-open (perhaps in 2021?) whether this actually translates into increased immigration to these areas. And what impact, if any, this has on the Northern Beaches and North Shore property markets.
